Why the Academy?
Individuals and communities are constantly evolving, shaped by both constructive and harmful influences. This is equally true in prison, where brokenness, if unaddressed, perpetuates a cycle of harm and despair.
But incarceration doesn’t have to be the end of the story. At Compassion Wyoming, we believe prison can mark the beginning of a life-changing journey. Transformation is challenging, but it is possible and worth the effort. That’s why we offer resources and support to guide and equip those ready to take that transformative step.
Ways to Make an Impact
Invitation
Prisoners are invited to join the course by a program facilitator, chaplain, another prisoner or at an event.
The Course
Participants meet weekly in small groups to learn about who Jesus is, what He calls them to do and what He wants for them.
Graduation
Course graduates are recognized and celebrated at a ceremony and receive a Bible and a completion certificate.
Discipleship
Course graduates are invited to enroll in additional discipleship programs to develop a deeper knowledge of Jesus.
What It Looks Like
At Compassion Wyoming, we offer a comprehensive curriculum designed to address the deeper needs of individuals and foster true growth and transformation. This program is built around a supportive and diverse community, creating a safe space where participants can connect, learn, and grow together.
With guidance from skilled and compassionate mentors, each individual is equipped to navigate the challenges of change with confidence and hope. Our hands-on, self-reflective approach encourages participants to look inward, recognize their potential, and take meaningful steps toward a better future.
This year-long journey is not just about learning—it’s about transformation. It’s about creating lasting change that impacts not only the participants but also their families, communities, and beyond.
FOUR THEMES of the ACADEMY
Important journeys require clear, reliable maps, and the path to lasting transformation is no different. Drawing from decades of experience, Compassion Wyoming has identified four essential themes that serve as guideposts on this journey.
Participants embark on a deep exploration of their identity, looking closely at who they truly are and how their past has shaped them. They challenge faulty thinking patterns that may have held them back, gaining new perspectives that pave the way for positive change. By setting new goals and examining the direction they want their lives to take, individuals are empowered to build a future that aligns with their purpose and aspirations.
This thoughtful process not only encourages self-discovery but also equips participants with the tools they need to create lasting transformation.
